NewYork (April 9th) As the Sikhs in Punjab have opposed the release of controversial movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakeer’, and now Sikh Coordination Committee East Coast also made a press release for seeking a ban of the movie immediately. In this press release the committee coordinator S. Himmat Singh & committee media spokesman S. Harjinder Singh stated that ” SCCEC-USA Working Committee in a strongly worded statement urged the Censor Board of India to ban the release of movie Nanak Shah Fakir immediately. The producer of the movie has hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs by portraying the divine Sikh Gurus by human characters. This is an absolute “no” and sacrilegious. It also urged SGPC President to issue an ultimatum to Government of India of dire consequences if this movie is allowed to screen. It appealed to 30 million strong Sikh community worldwide to boycott all businesses and entities directly or indirectly involved in promoting this movie”.
